Comfort in Every Moment
Even when you are screaming in pain.
Meet Michele

Michele Dutton lives in Oswego, Illinois with her husband and five children. She has experienced several different types of birth herself and brings a wealth of knowledge to the birthing space. She is committed to empowering women to have the birth experience they desire. She believes all women have the innate knowing and power to listen to and honor their body. She has a talent for tuning in to other's needs and will step in and help everyone involved in the birth to make it magical.
What is a Doula and why do you need one?
A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous support to a birthing person before, during and after childbirth. Unlike a medical professional, a doula focuses on emotional and physical comfort helping to have a positive birth experience. I help everyone involved (including partners and family members) support the birthing person in the way they want to be supported.
Research shows that having a doula at your birth decreases your chance of a c-section, decreases your need for interventions like pitocin, or pain medications and increases your satisfaction with your birth. Doulas can help you find your power and trust your own body.

Frequently Asked Questions
I already have a support person. Why do I also need a doula?
One of the benefits of a doula is that they aren’t emotionally tied up in your birth the same way your partner or mom is. Doulas experience emotion, of course, and may even show it. But they are not paralyzed or confused by it the way someone who is part of your daily life may be.
This is one reason why you need a doula’s care, even if you have an awesome partner.
Doulas are a great help and support for partners and help them be more involved in the birth. Sometimes they need some help being there and to find their role and place during birth.
Moms and in-laws are a tricky one, too. Sometimes moms can feel the way they gave birth is the correct way. A doula is there to make sure your needs are met and you are empowered to make decisions that are best for you. It's never about the Doula. It's about you and your needs. I am here to help you be completely satisfied with your birth experience, whatever that may be.

Any woman who experiences labor would benefit from a Doula. Think of it as your non-judgemental friend who helps you with anything you need. It doesn't matter if your labor is medicated or not, long or not, difficult or not, a scheduled c-section or a home birth, Doulas make the journey better. Doulas will help even if you can't leave the bed because of an epidural. We can help with movement to keep baby progressing, comfort, massage, or just help you or your partner know what to do. You name it. We are by your side during the entire process. Keeping you calm and focused.
